It was not the best day to visit Smiljan Radic’s interpretation of the Serpentine Pavilion today. The rain was pretty much constant and the light was dim, but I did manage to take a few photos and have a good look around. I wasn’t expecting to find a cafe inside the Pavilion, but I hadn’t actually checked out the official website before my visit. The crowd there seemed to be made up of a mixture of people sheltering from the rain under this bizarre structure, people who can’t go more than 30 minutes without needing to visit a coffee shop and those who headed there to check out Pavilion number 14, trying to decide if they like it or not.
I don’t really like it. I quite like the idea, but the waxy material used didn’t look too great up close which ruined it for me. The wacky light inside was pretty cool though.
